The Belpatra or wood apple leaves are considered sacred in Hinduism. It is one of the important worship materials in Hindu rituals. It is offered to all gods and goddesses in Hindu culture. It is more lovable by Lord Shiva, without offering a Belpatra, to lord Shiva, the worship is not completed. He loves Bei-Patra more than all other materials.

It is also considered if anyone offers a Bel-patra to Lord Shiva he washes away all the sins of his life and also believed that as a Bel-Patra, one surrenders his soul to Lord Shiva and it is considered a gesture of purification.
The mythological belief
According to Hindu mythology, the Bel-tree or wood-apple tree emerged from the sweat droplets of Goddess Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva. Thus it is imbued with her essence, and that's why Lord Shiva likes Bel-patra more than any other things. Apart from this, it is also believed that the Trinity: Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh (Lord Shiva) are present as the three leaves in a Bel-Patra, moreover the Hindu scriptures say that the three leaves of a Bel-patra represent the three eyes of Lord Shiva.
The medicinal importance of a Bel-Patra
Bel-Patra has a unique medicinal property. A Bel-fruit or wood apple contains Vitamine-C, Viitamine-A, Calcium, potassium, and fiber. It is beneficial in skin treatment and also as a refreshment consumed during summer. Wood apple Sharvat is preferable in summer. Eating a Bell Patra every morning can help to rid of gas, acidity, indigestion, constipation, etc.
