When is Yogini Ekadashi in 2025, & Why is it celebrated?

Yogini Ekadashi occurs after Nirjala Ekadashi. It is observed on the 11th day of the Krishna Paksha (Waning moon) of the Ashadha month in the lunar calendar and in the Gregorian Calendar, it falls in the month of June.

In 2025, Yogini Ekadashi Vrat will be observed on 21st of June, i.e. Saturday.
Yogini Ekadashi fast holds a specific significance in Hinduism. It is believed that Yogini Ekadashi Vrat helps devotees to gain spiritual Merits and seek blessings from Lord Vishnu (Narayana).
Significance
Yogini Ekadashi is one of the 24 Ekadashi. Lord Vishnu (Narayana) is worshipped on this day. Devotees observe a fast from Sunrise to the next day sunrise and do worship and sing bhajans and Aarti of Lord Vishnu.
Each Ekadashi holds a spiritual significance and have the same power, Yogini Ekadashi and Nirjala Ekadashi considered more powerful and auspicious of all. People who observe Yogini Ekadashi fast get a happy and prosperous lives. They get free from all sins and get the privilege of leading a clean life. Every Ekadashi fast is considered completed and fruitful only after Charity and donating things to the needy. Hence, devotees donate essential things to the Brahmins and the poor people on this day and make their devotion fruitful and successful.
The Legend of Yogini Ekadashi Vrat
Yogini Ekadashi Legend revolves around a heavenly gardener named 'Hemamali'. He used to bring flowers for the richest king (the king of wealth) Kubera for worship of Lord Shiva, and also he watering and tending to the beautiful garden of the King Kubera.
Most often, he became distracted by his beautiful wife 'Swara pavati' and neglected his duties, for getting to bring flowers to king Kubera for worship. As a result, he was caused by the king to become a leper.
The gardener afficted with leprosy and was wondering in pain in the forest for many years. Eventually, He met a sage 'Markandeya' he was able to know his story and adviced him to observe Yogini Ekadashi fast with utmost devotion.
The gardener did everything according to the advice of the sage Markandeya. As a result, he obtained back his original divine form by the grace of Lord Vishnu.
Thus the story highlights the power and benefit of Yogini Ekadashi Vrat.
