The significance of the green colour in the month of Saawan
During the month of Savan, the green colour has a deep connection and significance. Married women especially in the North of India, women like to wear green colour in this month. Like green saree, green traditional wear, green bangles, and green nail paint also.
The month of Saawan falls in the rainy season. The whole nature turns green colour by getting the rainwater. It shows the beauty and prosperity of nature. Hence women also put on green colour to enhance and represent the beauty of nature.
Apart from this, it is also considered that wearing the green colour brings prosperity and good luck to one's life. Sawan is also called the month of Lord Shiva so one can get the blessing of Lord Shiva by wearing green colour because he is pleased green colour.
Sawan Mahotsav basically is a gathering of married women wearing green colour( green outfits, green bangles, green nail paint, etc). Women apply mehendi also on their palms and feet and enjoy it together. There is an arrangement of singing and dancing also can be seen many where.
