Turmeric is also used in Hindu worship. Yellow is the favourite colour of Lord Vishnu, therefore turmeric is used in the substitute of yellow colour to please him. It is also used in other important rituals during festivals.


Uses of Turmeric in worship


It is considered, that the Sun god becomes happy when water is offered to him by putting turmeric in the water. It is also believed that applying turmeric Tilak on Thursday brings wealth and prosperity to life.

Turmeric is also used to adorn Gods along with Sandalwood and vermilion. It is also used to make religious art such as the Swastika, Om and sometimes Rangoli also in the place of the yellow colour.

Turmeric is the most important ingredient in Indian cuisine. Each and every kitchen store turmeric as a vital Spice. In Indian Cuisine, mostly turmeric is used to give an attractive colour and texture to the food. Apart from this, people add it to food by considering it as a health factor.

With the changing times, there has also been a change in the food habits of people but turmeric is still used in new recipes also such as cakes, biscuits, bakery products, dairy products, etc.
