Five Common Spices That Are Used In Every Indian Cuisine And As A Medicine

What are the spices commonly used in every cuisine, And What are their benefits?

Indian spices are widely known for their goodness, not only from the point of view of taste but also from the point of view of health. Most of the Indian spices contain medicinal particles that's why their excessive use also does not harm the body. 

Some such spices are:

Jeera(Cumin), Indian spices


* Jeera (Cumin seeds)- Cumin is not only common but also one of the major spices of India. It is used in almost all types of common and special dishes. Cumin has been used as medicine also from ancient times.

Medicinal goodness- It works as antioxidants in the body which help to prevent diseases like cancer, heart disease, and high blood pressure.


Dhania(Coriander), Indian spices

* Dhania (Coriander seeds)- Coriander seeds are the major ingredients in each and every Indian Kitchen. It is one of the daily used spices. It is also used to cook every common and special dish.

Medicinal goodness- Coriander seeds help to lower blood sugar and also increase digestion and gut health. it keeps the heart and brain healthy. The regular consumption of coriander may protect our skin.


Haldi ( Turmeric), Indian spices

* Haldi (Turmeric)- In India, there is no such Kitchen where there is no place for turmeric. There are multiple uses for turmeric. Haldi is used to add colour to the food. Apart from this, there is a number of benefits of turmeric and also has an auspicious factor that's why it is used in festivals and rituals as well. 

In Indian Kitchens, Turmeric is basically used to add colour to all dishes. In addition, Indian weddings irrespective of caste are incomplete without turmeric.

Medicinal goodness- Turmeric is mostly preferred for skin treatment. It cures sunburn and dark spots, It also prevents skin cells from clumping and helps heal acne and also many more. 


Lal Mirch ( Red chilli and powder), Indian spices

* Lal Mirch (Red Chilli)- In India Red chilli is used both in whole and powdered form. It is one of the major spices and is commonly used in daily cooking by everyone. Red chilli powder adds attractive colour and looks to the food. It helps to make the food spicy and tasty.

 Medicinal goodness- Red chilli powder removes bacteria from the stomach. It helps in the secretion of gastric juice and saliva from the salivary gland in the mouth which aids in digestion and helps increase appetite.


Kasuri Methi, ( dried Fenugreek leaves) Indian spices

* Kasuri Methi (fenugreek leaf)- Fenugreek leaves are dried up and used in cooking as spices. It gives a beautiful flavour to the food. Although it is not used as commonly as coriander, cumin and red chilli. It is used in cooking to make a dish special.

Medicinal goodness- Fenugreek leaves improve heart health and digestion. It is also beneficial for skin and hair and for diabetes. It also prevents gastric disorders.
