Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was the first Vice President and the second President of independent India. He was born on 5th September 1888. He was not only a teacher but also a researcher, scholar, and philosopher. He loved his profession very much. and was passionate about his profession. Therefore to always remember the contribution of a teacher in everyone's life, his birthday was selected to celebrate as a teacher,s day every year.
He was born in a poor Telugu brahmin family. He was a writer of many precious books. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1931, and the highest civilian award in India in 1954. His achievement throughout his life was extraordinary. Yet he has been marked as a great teacher. By celebrating Teacher's Day on his birth anniversary a tribute is paid to all the teachers of India.
