The Legend
Lord Ganesha was created by Devi (Goddess) Parvati. She created him with the sandal-turmeric paste which she used to apply to the body before bathing.
Therefore, Deby Durga is known as his mother as well, and Lord Shiva is known as his father.
But according to the Legend, Lord Shiva was unknown about his son who was created by Devi Parvati. Because she created him while she was going to take a bath and no one was there for guarding that's why she created him to keep watching the gate in her absence of her. Meanwhile, Lord Shiva was coming toward Ganesha and asked to enter. But Lord Ganesha refused. Then there was a long conversation and an argument occurred there. Later after, a war also occurred between Lord Shiva and Ganesha. In the duration, Lord Shiva cut off his head with his Trishul and Ganesha died. This was not the end of the Legend, it is left more.
Why Lord Ganesha has a head of an elephant
When Goddess Parvati heard about Ganesha, she came running, crying & yelling. She asked Shiva to get him alive. Shiva said it is impossible Because no one comes back after dying. Devi Parvati threatened that get Ganesha alive soon otherwise she would also die.
Then Lord Shiva ordered his men to bring the head of a child whose mother was lying facing opposite her child. After effort a lot, an Elephant was found in such conditions with her calf. So, the head of the respective baby elephant was brought to them and fixed onto the body of Ganesha. In this way, Ganesha got a new life. But even then the difficulty did not go away.
Goddess Parvati said, who will consider Ganesha as a God in such a look? Who will worship him? Then Lord Shiva boons him that he will be worshiped first before worshipping any God.
Therefore, in Hindu scripture, there is a law to worship Lord Ganesha first Before any worship.
Apart from this, he was given a boon also that he would be worshipped in the South by the majority. Thus Lord Ganesha got first place among the Gods.
Therefore, it is presumed that Lord Ganesha comes to earth every year. And remove everyone's pain, problems, & difficulties and fill their lives with hope, happiness, and goodness.
