What is Padmini Vishuddh Ekadashi?

Padmini Vishuddha Ekadashi is also known as Padmini Ekadashi or Parma Ekadashi. It falls on the 11th day of Adhik mass. There are 24 Ekadashi that are celebrated throughout the year. It increases by two more Ekadasi that fall in Shukla Paksha of Adhik Maas and people celebrate 26 Ekadashis in the Adhik Maas.

What is Adhik Maas or Malmaas?
The term 'Adhik' means more, and 'Mass' means month. Thus, the term 'Adhik Maas' means more months, which comes after 3 years. The Adhik mass is an extra month that people get after 3 years, so the year has 13 months instead of 12. This month is considered to be dear to Lord Vishnu. He goes to his Yog Nidra in this month. That is why the Adhik Maas and Padmini Ekadashi are special in all Ekadasi.
Importance of Padmini Vishuddha Ekadashi
In Padmini Vishuddha Ekadashi, People observe a fast all day long. Vishnu mantra and Vishnu Sahstranaam are chanted also. Donation is a specific ritual of this day. People receive the immense blessings of Lord Vishnu by donating essential things to the needy. By observing this Ekadashi, one can achieve a place in 'Vaikuntha' (Lord Vishnu's abode) after death. Moreover, it brings prosperity, good health, domestic peace, and an abundance of wealth and grains.
Padmini Vishuddha Ekadashi Vrat Katha (The Legend)
Padmini Vishuddha Ekadashi begins in the Treta Yug in the Mahishmati kingdom. The king of this Kingdom named Kirtvirya has a hundred Queens but does not have any offspring. That is why the king was extremely unhappy. He did many Yajnas to fulfill his desire for a son, but all his efforts failed. Then he decided to go through austerities with his first wife Queen Padmini and went to a forest, but there was no outcome. Queen Padmini felt restless for her husband. She went to meet Devi Anusuya. She listened to their sad story and advised her to observe the first on the Shukla Paksha of the Adhik mass and Queen Padmini did so. She observed the fast and Pooja of Lord Purushottam(Vishnu), with great devotion. She did all the rituals and followed every rule properly. Lord Vishnu was pleased with them and blessed them with a son. Padmini very soon gave birth to a son named Kartavirya. Since then this fast has been known by the name of Rani Padmini and it has been going on since then.
