What is Ram Navami and how is it significant?

Ram Navami is celebrated in Shukla Paksha, in the month of Chaitra in the lunar calendar, and in April in the Gregorian Calendar. It is marked the birth anniversary of Lord Ram.

Goddess Durga

The day is observed by worshipping Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman, as he is considered the most dedicated devotee of Lord Rama.

Celebration of Ram Navami 

In India, on the day of Ram Navami, people place a flag of saffron or red colored in their home campus and worship it. The flag is placed on behalf of an image of Lord Hanuman. Apart from this, in the temples of Ram and Hanuman Ramayan is chanted and Bhajan and kirtans are sung. The Akharas (a procession with huge saffron and red flags) are taken out, in which, wrestlers perform their Kusti. In such a way, Rama Navami is celebrated in India.

Significance and celebration of Chaitra Navratri

In India, Navratri is celebrated twice a year, it is celebrated in the month of Ashwin in the Hindu calendar, in September in the Gregorian calendar, and secondly, in the month of Chaitra (Shukla Paksha) and in March.

The month of Chaitra is the most significant as there are three important festivals (Navratri, Rama Navami, and Chhath) of Hindus are fall on this specific month.


Goddess Durga

Chaitra Navratri is observed as the owner of Goddess Durga. The whole Hindu community keeps fast for 9 days and has only fruits one time a day. Aarti is sung morning and evening.

Chaitra Navratri is a symbol of women's power, forgiveness, and compassion. Goddess Durga is considered the god of power. That's why Chaitra Navratri is observed to gain the power to fight all kinds of evil and negativity. Thus, is it the most significant festival.
