Saawan(Shravan) Purnima Significance

Shravan or Saawan is one of the months in the lunar calendar. This month is extremely important for Hindus from a religious point of view. The biggest reason why Saawan Purnima is important is the festival of Raksha Bandhan.
Apart from this, it is also crucial because Lord Vishnu is worshipped on this auspicious day. It is a consideration, by doing so, one can bring peace and happiness in the house and evils go away from the houses.Even though the month of Shravan is considered the month of Lord Shiva and he is worshipped in the whole month of Saavan, in the particular Saawan Purnima, Lord Vishnu is worshipped and Satyanarayan (Vishnu) Katha is performed. Some people do charity and penance. Because its significance is mentioned in Hindu scriptures.
What Is Kajari Purnima
Kajari Purnima is a festival that falls on Saavan Purnima. It is celebrated in some states of India such as Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, etc.
The preparation for this festival starts on the 9th day of Saawan Amavashya. This festival is celebrated by women. The festival is performed for the long lives of their sons. They use earthen pots and sow Barley in them and immersed them in a nearby pond or River on the day of Saawan Purnima. They sing songs and tell stories also. Thus the festival is performed in different parts of India.The full moon day of Saavan is observed in different ways in different parts of India such as Narayali Purnima in South India, Kajari Purnima in Central India, Raksha Bandhan in North India, etc.
What is Raksha Bandhan
Raksha Bandhan is a festival of brothers and sisters. It is a very crucial festival in Hinduism which is celebrated in Saavan Purnima. In this festival, brothers and sisters wear new clothes after bathing.
Sisters arrange and decorate a Thali (plate) in which Diyas, Akshat (holy rice), Kumkum, sweets, and Rakhi are placed. sisters tie Rakhi on the wrists of their brothers, sprinkle Akshat on their heads, and apply Kumkum on their foreheads. Brothers give gifts to their sisters. Thus the festival of Raksha Bandhan is celebrated in Saawan Purnima.
