India is a country of diversity. Here the majority of the population is Hindu. Despite all, one special thing about India is that all the festivals are celebrated here. That's why people of all religions celebrate Christmas together in India. Holidays are given on the occasion of Christmas in all schools in India. Some special activities are also given to the students like card making, Christmas tree decorating, and other activities. 

There is an official holiday is also declared all over India. In the Christian community, it is customary to go to Church on Christmas day but this custom is followed not only by the Christian community but also by many families of other communities. Only 2.06% percentage of people in India are Christian. But seeing the scene of the markets and other places at the time of Christmas it does not seem so. The markets are crowded as is the case with other Hindu festivals.

It is also a custom to cut and eat cakes during Christmas. Everyone follows this custom as well. Cakes are also brought and cut in most of the families of other classes also.

Christmas is the major festival of Christians. but in India, it appears as if it is a major festival on the whole of India.

Christmas is celebrated in a conventional way almost everywhere in India. But the Christmas celebration in the south of India is very unique. The tradition of Christmas in South India is very different from other regions. because the three things that make Christmas unique in the south of India are 1) rose cookies, 2)dancing kings, and 3) the Catamaran race.

Although Christmas is celebrated everywhere in India. But Goa is the major place where Christmas is celebrated with great pomp because most of India's Catholic population is found here.

One can see the traditional Christmas celebration in Goa. Apart from this, metropolitan cities of India like Bombay, Kolkata, and Delhi are also well known for Christmas celebrations. Moreover, in some places in the Northeast region like Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Mizoram, and also in the south of India, Bangalore, and Kerala Christmas is celebrated widely.

Little children like to become Santa Claus and distribute gifts to other children. One can see a decorated Christmas tree also in a house of other castes. Everyone wishes each other a happy Christmas day.

Because Christmas is celebrated all over India in such a way that the whole of the Indian population is Catholic. Apart from this, one can say the Diwali festival is equivalent to Christmas because, in India, 5 days of official holidays are given on both Diwali and Christmas. Candles are lit on both Diwali and Christmas. Houses are decorated with lights on both Diwali and Christmas. Thus Diwali is considered equivalent to Christmas in India.
