Why is Vishwakarma puja celebrated on the same date every year?
By Intimate Viewpoint
Vishwakarma puja is celebrated on 17 September every year. Because the Hindus celebrate the birth anniversary of God Vishwakarma on this particular date.
But why does the Vishwakarma puja falls on the same date? whilst Janmashtami (the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna), Shivratri (the marriage anniversary of Lord Shiv and Parvati), and also other festivals' dates vary?
There are two main reasons for that. In India, some festivals are celebrated according to the lunar calendar so such festivals never fall on the same date. Whilst some other festivals like Makar Sankranti and Vishwakarma puja are celebrated according to the Vikram Samvat calendar. Therefore such festivals are marked on the same date e.g. On 17 September Vishwakarma puja, and on 14th January Makar Sankranti.
