Which Ekadashi fast will be observed in the month of April 2025?

Each month gets two Ekadashi. Thus there are 24 Ekadashi are observed in every year. Therefore, in 2025, the month of April also get two Ekadashi, one was on the 8th of April the "kamada Ekadashi" and the second one the "Varuthini Ekadashi" falls on the 24th of April i.e.Thursday. 

Varuthini Ekadashi Significance 

Varuthini Ekadashi also known as "Baruthini Ekadashi". The Legend of Baruthini Ekadashi is found in the "Bhavishya Purana". It was narrated by the Lord Krishna to king Yudhishthira, the elder brother of Pandavas. "Varuthini" means "aremord" or protected. Thus those who observed the first of Varuthini Ekadashi will be protected from enemies. 

Varuthini Ekadashi fast is observed in the Krishna Paksha (waxing moon) of the Vaisakh month in the looner calender. The person who observes this fast, not only gets freedom from enemies but also increases happiness and prosperity in his life. 

Like other Ekadashi, in this Ekadashi too, Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped. Devotees wake up early in the morning, take a holy bath and offer water to the Sun god, after that an image of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi are placed in a clean place. Usually yellow flowers are offered to them, fruits and sweets are also offered as Prasad. Donation is the prominent part of this Ekadashi. In earlier time when kings and Maharajas used to observe this fast they used to donate elephants, horses, cows, and gold items along with food items and clothes. But now people don't have that much capabilities so currently people use to donate only food items, clothes, and other essential goods. 

Varuthini Ekadashi Legend

There are two legends of Varuthini Ekadashi famous all over. One Legend is about Lord shiva and Brahma and the second one is about the king Mandhata. According to the legend of Lord shiva and Brahma, Once upon a time, due to some reason Lord Shiva got angry and cut off the fifth head of Brahma. Brahma too got angry and cursed Shiva. Seeing that, Lord Vishnu advised Shiva to observe the fast of Varuthini Ekadashi. because and courses Lord he released from the curse from then onwards the power of devotion and Finance was revealed on earth
