 Is 2025 Kumbh or Mahakumbh? 

Kumbh is a gathering of devotees associated with the ancient culture and beliefs of India. In 2025, it is ongoing from 13 January and will be last on 26th February (on the Shivratri day) at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh). There is a question in people's mind about the Kumbh of 2025, weather it is Kumbh or Mahakumbh? 

2025 Kumbh or Mahakumbh? 

Kumbh helds in every 12 years and Mahakumbh is 144 years (12 cycles of Kumbh/Purna). Kumbh Mela has been organised for centuries, the exact time of its commencement is unknown. Hence, it is not possible to ascertain whether the Kumbh of 2025 is the Kumbh which occurred after 144 years.

According to the astronomical calculations, the Kumbh of 2025 has the same significance as the kumbh which occurs after 144 years. The alignment of the sun, moon, Jupiter and the Saturn is absolutely favorable for the Tithi of Mahakumbh. The 2025 Mahakumbh considered as remarkable rare alignment. 

What is the Mahakumbh of 144 years? 

2025 is not Kumbh but Mahakumbh, which occurs after a 144 years. The significance of this great spiritual event has already proven by the 15 crores pilgrims from the every corner of the world. More than one crores of pilgrims reach everyday in this Grand religious event to take a holy dip (Amrit Snan) at the Triveni Sangam (the meeting point of the three sacred rivers, Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati) in Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh).

The significance of Mouni Amavasya and Amritsari in the Mahakumbh

Mouni Amavasya is considered the most sacred date to take a holy dip (Amrit Snan) during Mahakumbh. It is believed that the water of these three Holy rivers turns into 'Amrit' (nectar). So one can gets the blessings of prosperity and happiness by taking a dip in these rivers on the Mouni Amavasya day.
