'Bipottarini' is a Bengali term that means the one who removes troubles. Bipattarini is a Hindu goddess and is considered a form of Devi Durga. It is a festival celebrated prominently in West Bengal, apart from this, it is also celebrated in Bangladesh. Usually, the festival is celebrated by the Bengali community, yet some other people from other casts celebrate this festival with great devotion.

The time of celebration 

Bipattarini Pooja is celebrated annually in between Rath Yatra (Dwitiya) and Ulta Rath Yatra (Dasami) on Tuesday or Saturday of Aashadh month in the lunar calendar.

The way of celebration 

This festival is observed by the women by keeping (Vrata) fasting. Women worship Davi Bipattarini or the goddess Durga by visiting temples. In many temples, the puja is organized by the community members. 

Devi Durga is worshipped by offering sweets, fruits, Pakodas, Pakwan, etc. Apart from this, some other things also loved by Devi Durga like, Pan (Bettle), Bettle nuts, green cardamom, and Cloves, etc.


Bipottarine Pujo

This festival is unique from other festivals. There are some specific things that make the festival Unique. One of them is the red colored thread which is knotted with green grass, this is won by the women after worship. The second thing is a ritual of offering things by counting the number 13, like thirteen kinds of sweets, thirteen fruits, thirteen cloves, thirteen green cardamom, thirteen beetle nuts, etc. In this way, number 13 makes the festival unique.
