Great India and great Indian history
By Intimate Viewpoint
Tomorrow is 26th January, the Republic Day of India.
The freedom of India is not ordinary, because after sacrificing lakhs and crores martyrs India has achieved freedom. Today, we celebrate Independence Day and Republic Day very easily, and in a simple way like, by greeting others, by sharing a patriotic dance video, by sharing an article about it, or by hoisting and unfurling a national flag on a public place, and by giving some speeches about the roles of Indian martyrs to public and audience and thus we think, we have played our duties completely.
We even do not consider our duty to give a lesson of our Indian history and of the martyrs to our children and to our next generation.
Do our children know the importance of this day completely?
Many of us would say, No.
As being Indian it is our duty to evoke feelings of Indian history and Indian culture to our children.
Why do we celebrate Republic Day?
We celebrate Republic Day every year on 26th January. On this particular day, the Indian Constitution came into force. That means, from this day, the law and order came into force which was written by Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.
Although, India got freedom from British rule on 15th August 1947. But there were no certain laws and orders for running the country properly. Then Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar (the father of the Indian constitution) introduced the final draft of the constitution in the constituent assembly. And on 26th January 1950, it came into action. Therefore, this day is celebrated as Gantantra Diwas all over India. And tomorrow we are going to celebrate 72nd Gantantra Diwas.
What is the difference between hoisting and unfurling the national flag?
We often use the two phrases "hoisting of national flag" and "unfurling of national flag" in our speech that is given on the occasion of Republic Day and on Independence day.
But many of us don't know the difference between the two Phrases, and we don't know even when and why do we use the phrases for.
* "Hoisting the national flag" This phrase is often used in 15th August's speech.
Hoisting means, the act of raising on lifting something. We use this phrase generally on 15th August. This is because, on this day, the Prime Minister of India hoists the Indian flag on the Red Fort of Delhi.
On this day, the Indian flag is tied and sits at the bottom of the poll by the Indian Prime Minister.
* "Unfurling of the flag" This phrase is often used on 26th January. The literal meaning of unfurling is to make or become spread out something from a rolled or folded state.
Thus, 'unfurling of the flag' the phrase is used on 26th January because on this day the Indian President ticks up the flag on the top and is unfurled without pulling it up from India Gate by the Indian president.
India's independence is depicted by this act.
So, you should confirm the difference between the phrases before using them in your speech.
