Date and celebration
Ramnavami is a Hindu festival. It is celebrated on the 9th day of Chaitra Dashara or Chaitra Navratri and in March-April in the Gregorian calendar. This year, it will be observed on 30th March (Thursday).
On the day of Ramnavami, Akhadas (traditional wrestling) are organized at different places. In the Ram temples, Bhajan, kirtans, and Ram Lilas (dramas) are organized. Many devotees participate in them and some devotees tell stories of infant Rama. The Statue of Infant Rama has a bath and clothes like an infant lying in cradles. Somewhere Langars (community meals) are organized as well.
Rama Navami is celebrated largely at Ayodhya (the birthplace of Ram). A Chariot procession or Rath Yatra of Ram, his brother Laxman, and his wife Sita are taken out at many places.

King Ram was the 7th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He came on earth to kill the demon king Ravana. The significance of this festival is that it represents the devotion of Hanuman who is known as the biggest devotee of the universe.
